Boys Orphanage - Bangladesh Proposed Project: The boys’ orphanage is part of a complex of ministries related to the Bangladesh Theological Seminary founded several years ago by Dr. John Sircar and the president of CDM. There is a need to expand the orphanage by adding a floor to an existing building for dormitory space. This will allow more orphan boys to be mentored by Dr. Sircar and other teachers, seminary and college students. This orphanage, located in the port city of Chittagong, has its own primary school where the boys get a good education but there is a need for a computer lab, which will give orphan boys computer skills to get a job once they leave the orphanage. These boys come from 5 different areas of the country and are being raised to go back and minister in their communities. They are being taught preaching and teaching as well and each morning they take turns doing devotions for each other and practicing all the functions of a church in the church plant that meets there on Sundays. Each evening they have a Bible class and group devotions where they are taught to study through the Bible and then have prayer and worship times.Read more...

English Language Center - Southeast Asia Active Project: The Asian understands the value of a good education, especially one that teaches their children English. In Asia, a parent’s security in old age rests on the ability of their children to care for them which is dependent on a good job. A good job is dependent on a good education. An education that teaches the student English provides that child a “world” of opportunities in finding good jobs and caring for family. Whole extended families will pool to send one child to an English medium school in order to have a regular income. Sometimes whole villages will pool funds to educate a promising child.Read more...

Plantation and Model Farm - Southeast Asia Active Project The association of churches struggles to raise funds for supporting its ministries, particularly the Bible College and the orphanage. The staff of the association’s headquarters will often go months without pay as they wait for churches and donors to send in their faith pledges for the year. In addition, once orphans are finished with high school, there is no support for them to go on to college or university. Through CDM’s needs assessment, it was apparent we needed to supplement the income for the association so they were not totally dependent upon donations from either their churches or foreign organizations.Read more...

Girls Orphanage - Bangladesh Proposed Project: This is a new orphanage planned as part of the new orphanage/school complex CDM is building for orphan girls in Sylhet, Bangladesh. The girl orphans are currently part of the orphanage CDM partners with in Chittagong. Due to overcrowding, there is a need to move the girl orphans to a new location. Overcrowding leads to increased illnesses and behavioral problems. Another benefit would be to separate teenage girl orphans from teenage boy orphans to protect the reputation of the orphanage and all the ministries there.Read more...

Grocery Store - Central Asia Proposed Project CDM passionately believes in enabling Muslim converts in Central Asia to support themselves rather than be dependent upon stateside funding to do ministry. With this in mind, we are setting them up in small business ventures in which they have proven expertise. This would contribute to their income needs and provide opportunity for them to conduct ministry. In the life of one Muslim convert there is a long history in his family of running grocery stores successfully even during the Soviet era.Read more...

Evangelistic Website – Middle East Active Project Many Arabic speaking Muslims are interested in the claims of Christ but cannot ask questions for fear of reprisal. The Internet brings amazing freedom for Muslims to pursue finding answers. Additionally, there are very few places where Muslim background believers can gather for fellowship in freedom. They are isolated and rarely hear each other's testimonies.Read more...

Brock Scholarship Fund Active Project The CDM scholarship program recognizes the strategic impact advanced training can have on a people group and continues this CDM tradition. Abraham Lincoln once said everything rises or falls on leadership. Having a vibrant, growing ministry requires well trained leaders with intellectual resources at their disposal. However the training needs of most people groups in the developing world are enormous, both for clergy and lay leaders.Read more...

Bible College - Southeast Asia Active Project Founded in 1993 by our partners, this Bible College has a current enrollment of 140 students studying for the ministry. CDM has trained 5 of their professors at the graduate level in the US and the Philippines including 3 with doctorates from a seminary in Pennsylvania.Read more...

Storefront Rentals - Southeast Asia Active Project Funds were donated for the purchase of land and the building of store front rentals. The land behind the store fronts is large enough to more buildings on. There is the possibility of doing a printing company on that property or a new headquarters for CDM's partnering association of churches.Read more...

Web Design - Middle East Proposed Project In a fast growing city in the Middle East, we are seeking to start a digital design and training center that would be the first of its kind in the region. Offering professional design for websites, graphic advertisements and training in basic computer skills and advanced design programs, this business in partnership with a Muslim Background partner would have great influence in the community. Not only does the model make good business sense, but it gives our partners a great opportunity for witness and influence in the community.Read more...

The Problem… Untrained Leaders Abraham Lincoln once said everything rises or falls on leadership. Having a vibrant, growing ministry requires well trained leaders with intellectual resources at their disposal. However the training needs of most people groups in the developing world are enormous, both for clergy and lay leaders. The people groups CDM works with have a need for facilities, training programs, teachers and professors, translating/ publishing of evangelistic and educational materials. The problem we face in educating them in our country and sending them back is that the statistics show that 90% of nationals being trained outside their country do not return to their homeland to minister. CDM currently has a 100% return rate. CDM men were selected not by missionaries but by their own leadership peers and have both proven ministry experience and a track record among their own peers of being men of their word and men of passion for their own people. The Solution… Knowledge is Empowering CDM assists in training the future generation of leaders starting in kindergarten all the way up to graduate level education. A good educational strategy for a people group is to have quality Christ-centered programs and resources that build upon each other at every level from kindergarten to doctors degrees in the formal sector. In the non-formal educational sector there is a need for Christ-centered yet practical, relevant programs/resources that are degree granting. The non-formal sector includes short term seminars, workshops, internships, apprenticeships, and extension programs that don’t give a diploma or degree. This quadrant has been the bedrock of CDM since its inception and continues to be of highest priority to CDM’s leadership. Some examples of men of God that are writing on the pages of history behind closed doors are as follows: Dr. SW, a professor at the Bible College in Burma, taught theology for 7 years before coming to the states. His dissertation translated notes for a Study Bible in the kachin language.
Dr. ZB, the former president and professor has developed improvements for the Bible College’s curriculum, created a web page in their language attracting people from 10 countries, and is also working on the Study Bible.
Dr. NM, the president of the school taught for four years and had been a pastor before that. His dissertation translated notes for a Study Bible in the Kachin language.
Quadrant Impact… The Bottom Line: Training Quality education and available intellectual resources has tremendous impact on the other quadrants of the people group diamond. The spiritual quadrant needs trained pastors, missionaries, church leaders, youth workers, musicians, para-church administrators and teachers. The intellectual quadrant needs trained professors, translators, writers, school teachers. The social quadrant needs trained medical personnel and orphan care workers to name just a couple. The economic quadrant needs trained business persons, farmers, and a trained workforce with a passion to fund ministry. Well trained employees provide better wages thus impacting their giving. Well trained entrepreneurs create wealth and through their stewardship help support ministry. Read more about our current projects below: -
Hermeneutic Textbook Translation Active Project Dr. George Coon, chairman of the CDM board, also serves in a country in South Asia each year teaching hermeneutics and encouraging our partner there. Dr. Coon has written a manual for preaching that has been tested on the field, and is very much needed and appreciated. Currently this textbook is being translated into the language of that region. Pray that this will be completed soon, and pray for the growing number of young pastors who are being equipped to expound the Word of God, thanks to Dr. Coon’s ongoing ministry.Read more...

The Problem: A Dirty Little Secret The dirty little secret of missions is that over the last 150 years missionaries have created a gigantic welfare system where the national church overseas is dependent upon hand outs from mission boards and churches in America. This leads to a lack of initiative on the national’s part, a colonial mindset of controlling all the resources on the foreign missionary’s part, and a lack of accountability between national church leaders and their flocks. After all, if the mission pays the pastor’s salary, how can he be accountable to his church members? As a result of this welfare mentality, the national never takes full responsibility. The responsibility always lies with the foreign missionary, inhibiting ownership, responsibility and potential for growth. Furthermore, missionary giving in the West per capita is in decline and international ministries that are dependent on Western funds are headed for trouble in the days to come. Some nationals that come to the West for fund raising don’t go back and are unaccountable to their own people in the use of those funds. The current system does nothing to address these ills and continues to perpetuate the existing welfare system and its colonial consequences. The principle of teaching a man to fish instead of giving him a fish is urgently needed on foreign soil. The Solution… Creating Financial Independence CDM is an entrepreneurial ministry that helps start new ministries and income-generating enterprises to fund a people group’s ministries. We believe that free enterprise, not hand outs, will create the economic system that sustains a people group’s ministry. Our desire is to break the cycle of dependency by the national church on the West for operating budgets. This requires a well trained cadre of godly national entrepreneurs with access to capital to create ventures that will profitably grow, employ Christians, and be an outreach to unsaved employees/vendors/clients, allowing them to become wise stewards of the resources the Lord blesses them with. We believe a strong economic base among Christian church members will revolutionize the funding of their ministries, break the cycle of dependency and bring a spirit of responsibility for ministry growth. Economic growth is also a powerful testimony and helps deter persecution for the church in lands hostile to their faith. Quadrant Impact… The Bottom Line: Sustainability Financial resources provide the bedrock for carrying out ministry. Without a strong economic base among the body of Christ, local resources for supporting the growth of ministry will not be sufficient. Funds are necessary to all the quadrants and God uses the stewardship of His people to provide for His work. Only sustainable projects will break the cycle of dependency. Graduate Seminary - Southeast Asia Proposed Project CDM's partners in Asia have asked us to help them start a graduate seminary for their language group. Preliminary studies have been done by Dr. Holman, our Project Specialist for theological education. Our plan is to thoroughly survey the leaders of this ethnic group so as to understand their leadership needs. The next step is finding a graduate school in the United States that is willing to partner with us. As the Lord provides for the Holmans to relocate to Southeast Asia, the project will accelerate.Read more...

Bible College, Women's Dorm Expansion - Southeast Asia Proposed Project The current girls' dorm is extremely overcrowded with over 50 college girls packed into a small building with bunk beds 3 and 4 high. This is an unhealthy living environment as illness and disease can quickly spread and there are plenty of tropical diseases. There is an adjacent 1 acre piece of property for sale. The Bible College is mostly men but there is a small number of women that go and work as both pastors wives and Christian education workers in churches. Also this Association of churches is unusual in that they have their own full time woman hired to develop women's ministries to their people group and churches.Read more...

Orphanage Relocation and Construction – Southeast Asia Active Project: The association of churches in this Southeast Asian country, has started their own orphanage because orphaned or abandoned children of Christians would otherwise be put in Buddhist orphanages. Every third Sunday the churches take up a special offering for the orphanage. The current orphanage is housed on a small piece of property with no place for orphans to play and the living quarters are overcrowded. Another problem is teenage boys and girls are living too close together and it could affect the reputation of the orphanage and the churches. A further problem is the part of town it is located in is starting to have problems with illicit drug sales and use, as it is part of the Golden Triangle of drug production in the Far East.Read more...

Rice Farm - Southeast Asia Active Project: The main staple food in Asia is rice. Asians eat rice often 3 times a day. The consumption of rice is a major cost factor for the operating budgets of the Bible college and orphanage. If these 2 institutions had their own rice, it would significantly cut their food budget for over 200 people. It would also employ poor Christians. A forty acre plot of paddy land adjacent to one of our existing farms was purchased. The plan is to grow a rice crop there that would sustain these ministries in a very important way. We are passionate about giving a cup of rice in Christ’s name and making our college and orphanage more sustainable.Read more...
